Jerry Luo is Co-Founder & CMO of Leaf Bio, where he leads the commercialization of plant-based materials beyond petrochemical feedstocks. Before Leaf Bio, he spent 15+ years in venture investing, incubation and company building.
Across 20+ frontier-technology companies in AI, robotics, advanced materials and industrial innovation, Jerry has backed and worked alongside founders as technologies moved from early conviction to market scale — several going on to become influential in their categories. That experience has shaped his practical perspective on technology: breakthroughs do not become markets until they earn trust through performance, specifications, qualification pathways, supply-chain readiness, commercial demand and scale.
His work spans commercial strategy, application development, value-chain partnerships and lab-to-market commercialization across packaging, textiles and performance materials. One of his key focuses is the commercialization of BioFleax® — a plant-based polymer technology that converts renewable plant feedstocks into PEF (polyethylene furanoate) fibre. By replacing fossil PTA with plant-derived FDCA, BioFleax stands as one of the very few 100% plant-based high-performance fibres available today — verified by ASTM D6866, certified to ISCC PLUS, and backed by an SGS-certified life cycle assessment covering monomer, chip and fibre levels. Leaf Bio is currently working with numerous leading brands across sportswear, fashion and luxury.
In this session, Jerry will share how bio-based textile materials move from plant to performance — and from lab to shelf — through real commercial cases.
